Liz and Ryan had booked me as their photographer. After meeting with them, I learned that Ryan is not just a skilled IT guy, but also has a passion for videography. Ryan asked if I knew anyone that could shoot video of their wedding with an SLR camera. Why yes, it so happens that I do, I said. And so I was lucky to have Nicki join me for the day. Nicki had a little help from her friend Ryan and my photo assistant Katia Forero, but for the most part Nicki shot this one solo on a pair of 5D Mark IIs and a 7D. Video editing was done by me.
Liz and Ryan’s wedding ceremony was held at Sts. John and Paul church in Wexford, followed by a reception at the Carnegie Music Hall Foyer in Oakland. My favorite part of the day, though, was the stop we made at Soergel’s Orchard, where Liz and Ryan both worked for many years. It was super hot that day, but Liz and Ryan didn’t seem to mind the heat at all, and Nicki so perfectly captured how comfortable and happy they were wandering through the orchard.
That said… it’s pretty hard to not pick Liz and Ryan’s first dance as my favorite part of the day… a choreographed salsa dance! They were so so good. Okay, maybe seeing what fantastic dancers they were, along with their enormous smiles, might have to be my favorite. Check them out!
